181In the context of the prolonged closure of childcare services and schools in Italy, this paper analyzes the measures introduced during the year of Covid-19 by Conte’s government in response to the unprecedented needs of combining work and care for families. The article addresses the role of two policies: «bonus baby-sitting» and «Covid- parental leave». It argues that politics and policies have not succeeded, albeit partially, in supporting working parents and children, while at the same time have not contributed to reducing gender and generational inequalities.
