The essay examines the use of violence in National Socialist propaganda within the Operational Zone of the Adriatic Coast, analysing the daily newspaper «Deutsche Adriazeitung» and the weekly journal «Adria Illustrierte». It highlights how the classic contents of Nazi propaganda were readapted to the specific features of this area, for example to its multi-ethnicity. In this context, direct and indirect violence in Nazi propaganda was mainly used to intimidate and coerce the civilian population into collaborating with the occupation forces and combating the partisans
