In the context of globalisation, urban spaces are critical to bringingprosperity, wealth and jobs. The economic model upon which cities relydetermines their efforts in bringing economic activity, talent or any otherresource that contributes to those goals. Creating urban value is thus puttingtogether the spatial attributes and characteristics of the city at theservice of a dominant economic standard at a time; it is shaped by timeand space. This paper explores the creation of urban value in specific contextsdominated by the knowledge economy. Three dimensions will betaken into account: to whom is this value addressed, by which governancemodels is it achieved; and through which customary tools this value iscreated.
