In the aftermath of the Second World War the political duality between the sphere of influence of the Eastern and Western blocs, between two models of development and society, generated those anxieties that gave rise to consistent historical-philosophical theories on democracy and on the totalitarian vocation that characterized Soviet communism. Claude Lefort gives us a primigenial analysis that, linked to the meaning of the social behaviors and their manifestation immanent to the political context, restores sensitivity to the historicity of our time, highlighting the deep dynamics that structure modern societies.
