388Anna Maria Mozzoni is a very well-known Italian emancipationist, but her religious thought has been almost completely neglected. Yet, on the one hand she mentioned religion and the Catholic Church among the causes of the inferiority of women, and on the other she argued that God had created both sexes equal, hence the rights of women to equal rights. This essay explores Mozzoni's thought on the religious sense, the historical character of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, in order to show the importance of these issues for her championing the feminist struggle.
