The nature of labor is changing in tune with the emergence of a new productive paradigm, which involves a new way of living and working: global capitalism of networked knowledge. In this transformation, codified and prescriptive labor - both for white-collars and blue-collars - is gradually losing its value. On the contrary, generative labor, which is connected to innovation, risk, adaptation and personalization of the services, can - at least potentially - be revaluated and it could gradually replace codified labor as a source of income. We do not know, yet, how long it takes for this replacement and we ignore if its relative speed can compensate for the parallel decline of codified labor. But, in view of this uncertainty, before we begin, the better.
