Ever since the elaboration of the famous paradox of the unreality of time by John McTaggart in 1908, the debate on time in analytical philosophy has been developing along two main axes, namely so-called "tensed" versus "tenseless" views of time. In this contribution the distinctive features of the controversy are outlined and a possible map is suggested to orientate oneself among the increasing number of different positions put forward in this long-lasting and extremely complex debate. A special attention is devoted to the most recent views, to some attempts to reconcile diverging sides of the debate and to some original approaches standing so-tospeak on the border between the tensed and the tenseless perspective.
