China has been attracted to Latin America for a long time. It has oil reserves and other commodities that China needs for its development. Also, it is an interesting market, because China can sell its low-cost or technologically advanced products in Latin America. Firms can be taken over or used for investment. A lot has been written on China's trade exchanges with Brazil, Peru and Chile. Nothing much on Mexico, where trade exchanges with China are growing. China has oil and the US is its customer. But Mexico's geographical proximity with the US makes the Sino-Mexican relationship particularly interesting.
