430One of the problems posed by the modern concept of democracy is that of representation founded upon elections and its articulation with the judgment of all which underlies the concept of opinion. By taking into account some of the contemporary analyses regarding the principle of election, especially that of Bernard Manin, the essay explores the theoretical difficulties inherent in the promotion of opinion at the level of the construction of political power. The Author, eventually, considers Comte's positions as regards positive politics as an attempt to overcome these difficulties.
