374The Author analizes - through hermeneutical method - the great and violent presence of war in the name of God, as it presents itself in the Old Testament. On his opinion, this expression are due to the historicity and graduality through which God manifests himself to humanity. Furthermore, these expressions deny God's indifference towards evil and give proof of his radical interest in justice. In the New Testament, on the other hand, we find an opposite perspective, opposed to the logic of war, even if Catholicism has for a long time developed theories on just war based on the principle of self-defense.
