The pandemic is an interesting test to deeply understand how the Italian healthcare systemhas changed. Financial impoverishment and inequalities between regions have made it moredifficult to respond to the pandemic. At the same time, the public nature of the system andthe involvement of the community have been strengths. It is important to take the opportunityto return to talk about the healthcare system in Italy, without forgetting the politicalrole of public health decisions.
