Critical political thought is very interested in critical theories of law because both perspectives pay attention to the differences in controversy with modern universalism. Both deny the pretense of formalist neutrality and claim rooting in social struggles. A critical law can offer categorical tools to political claims and stabilize bottom up agency. Common is the importance of practices that can guarantee an emancipatory character against the essentialism that often contaminate the claim of identity differences.
