Once an object forgotten by the historiography, now the Haitian Revolution is attributed with its relevance. It was the first victorious uprising against the slave system and it marked the beginning of a wider reflection on slavery and colonialism in the Atlantic world. Indeed, its consequences not only contributed in making the threat of the revolutionary contagion more concrete on the slaves and on the African descendent people in the rest of Caribbean, but they also caused important waves of migration in the region. The paper analyzes the effects that the revolts in the French colonial territory had on Cuba island, both from the point of view of the migratory processes and from the one of the social-economic transformations.
