This paper analyzes the processes and mechanisms of control intervening in the first phases of the juveniles' encounters with the juvenile justice system. Policies adopted to prevent and fight juvenile delinquency increasingly differ from traditional ones, as they attempt an individualized intervention aimed at re-education. Using data collected in an empirical research conducted in the years 2014-2015 in five European countries, the paper discusses the above cited processes looking at the ways in which they are being deployed by the different actors engaged in questioning minors.
