This article is a commentary on the core arguments of the book "L’età illegittima. Estetica e politica" by Federico Vercellone (2022) and an assessment of its relevance and topicality. Taking up the fruitful line of Italian political theology, Vercellone provides the reader with a meaningful diagnosis of the symbolical impasse and temporal glitches of Western civilization. His arguments are oriented towards the horizon of a «re-enchantment of the world», an idea that is now receiving renewed attention. The conceptual parameters of this idea, however, need to be recalibrated in light of a more complex understanding of the symbolical dynamics of the "nomos" and a more radical notion of political form.
