The temporal dimension is part of law. Constitutionalism was born with the aim of re-establishing the present and building the future by freeing it from the tyrannies of the past. However, the faith in the progress of the world that had founded the great modern visions has given way to a catastrophic vision of the future: wars, nuclear threat, environmental destruction, climate crisis. In this context, is constitutionalism able to guarantee the rights of future generations? Is it possible, legally, to speak of duties towards future generations? To regulate the future of the world, do we need technocracies or must we continue to believe in democracy?
