58The emergence in the post-global world of diverse and articulated forms of conspiracy theories with anti-Semitic spin-offs occurs against the backdrop of four hinges and changes in social and political life: the erosion of the value of cosmopolitan memory, the structural change of the digital public sphere, the irruption of populist forces, and geopolitical changes rooted in history. In the generalized distrust regarding the truth and plausibility of public discourse and the climate of epistemic uncertainty, antisemitic conspiracy theories represent a veritable cross-cultural subculture. But the contingency of their proliferation leads one to reflect on the relevance of some of the insights of the Frankfurt School of Critical Theory.
