The reduction of violence and the liberation of the unheard voices of the Weak have always been a pivot in Vattimo’s philosophical reflection and political engagement. One of these tragically unheard voices (the ongoing environmental catastrophe confirms this) is the Earth. Although Vattimo did not develop a proper ecological thought, this is to be found throughout his work as an underground torrent – first in nuce and then in a few valuable, direct allusions. In this paper, I genealogically reconstruct Vattimo’s Hermeuentic Ecology, showing how it fruitfully intertwines with contemporary discourses and practices on Posthumanism and the Environmental Humanities.
