22Weil’s admiration for Rosa Luxemburg is primarily shaped by her view that Luxemburg’s thought is inextricably linked to a focus on history and a commitment to acting in the world to improve it. In reading Luxemburg, however, Simone Weil focuses on the personal and existential level, which she considers to be the key to both Luxemburg’s philosophical exercise and her political vision. Weil’s reading of Luxemburg may assist us in rethinking some of the questions that currently challenge us, in particular, the idea of philosophy as a way of life and the critique of political parties.
