The concept of sustainability is based on three factors: social, economic and environmental, the Triple Bottom Line (TBL), which must guide business activities. Companies play a vital role because they can significantly contribute to achieving the sustainability objectives of the 2030 Agenda. This contribution, through a literature review and content analysis aims to describe the complete picture of how management literature has dealt with the topic of sustainability. The research provides several contributions: from an academic point of view, it describes the topics mostly covered in the literature and those still unexplored that could help companies consider sustainability objectives. Moreover, the research allows to have a strategic business management perspective, outlining some of the areas unexplored up to now and identifying future lines of research. They can direct companies towards a complete management and integration of global sustainability objectives, within the context of business strategies.
