The availability of performing arts places in large cities is important in terms of opportunities for cultural enjoyment and participation of citizens. However, their unequal allocation and different degree of accessibility are indicators of possible inequalities and culture gaps for large segments of citizens living in areas where the entertainment offer is low. These citizens tackling the risk to added at the socio-economic disadvantages and vulnerabilities the further disadvantages and marginalization in cultural fruition. Taking into account the unit of analysis of the sub-municipal territories in the three largest italian municipalities in population terms: Rome, Milan and Naples, it is measured in this work the accessibility to traditional performing arts places intended as temporal reachability (travel time) to the shows. The years analysed are pre and post-Covid emergency: 2019 and 2021. For this purpose, the Two Step Floating Catchment Area (2SFCA) methodology proposed by Luo and Wang (2003) was used. According to it the sub-municipal spaces of the three metropolitan cities were measured and distinguished taking into account their respective levels of accessibility to the performing arts venues in the municipal area.
