The outstanding figure in Rome in the first half of the fourth century BC was M. Furius Camillus. The classical tradition on him is very rich (more than forty sources), but there is also a very rich ‘post classical’ interest, going as far back as Dante, but then including art, poetry, drama, ballet, and extending as far as the United States, and encompassing political interests from Medici Florence to Fascist Italy.
