The aim of the paper is to develop a new theoretical framework ableto go beyond the «Northern» construction of the category of South andthe «postcolonial» deconstructive reaction, towards a possible synthesisand alliance. The paper suggests that cities of the Souths are loci of integration,innovation and challenge. Current urbanization trends ask fora change of paradigm based on new models in the Souths of the worldaimed at leading to the sustainable development goals that today are outof reach.
