New legislation in Italy included Psychology within health professions butreduced their autonomy. A recent sentence of the Italian Supreme Court abolished responsibilityof professionals appointed to carry out political duties. These two eventscontrast with the current professional ethics. Psychologists should decide whether toabide with the new legislation, hence modifying their ethical stance, or keep their Codeof Conduct creating a conflict between the two guidelines.
