The paper aims to analyse the data protection framework applicable in the European Union after the adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation. The analysis is carried out by the point of view of the controller. The implementation of the general principles contained in the regulation needs to be interpreted by the controller that will have to deal with the legal uncertainty arising from the discretionality of the adopted norms.
