Re-examining the relationship between city and countryside, and overcoming the traditional urban-rural divisions, this research provides important ways for a proactive reconstruction of city and territories. From this perspective, urban agriculture, with its physical and symbolic assets, can play a strategic role in the exploration of innovative practices and visions to nourish a “sense of Place” (MAGNAGHI 2010). The paper presents an analysis of an urban garden project in the Pontecagnano Eco-archaeological Park, located in the province of Salerno, Italy. The reflections emerge from the results of a field research, integrating participant observation with individual and collective interviews. The Pontecagnano experience is considered a positive attempt to find a way to “come back to the Place”.
