116In the course of recent years, the analysis of wine purchase behaviour in Spain highlighted an overall reduction of consumptions, as well as a general change of preference towards quality wine. With the aim of encouraging wine firms to adjust to this new situation, a survey on wine consumers has been conducted in Castilla- La Mancha (Spain), thanks to the Conjoint Analysis. This survey aimed at determining the relative importance different wine’s attributes have in affecting consumers’ choice. Among the others, the most significant attributes for the consumer resulted to be, in order of importance: certification, price, type and origin. As coming from this result the little importance placed upon the origin, as well as the general attitude towards red wine, certified and at a competitive price, could represent a key to explain foreign firms’ ability of increasing their own market shares in Spain during the recent years. Therefore, this finding could be used to face the competition with foreign (wine) companies in Spain.
