Dilthey inquires into the foundations of the human sciences after
the end of metaphysics looking at historical consciousness and
asserting that there is a relationship between poetry and vital intuitions. This lecture aims to introduce Dilthey’s hermeneutics and
poetics and to clear up the influence of his philosophy on Husserl’s
phenomenology and Heidegger’s ontological hermeneutics.
