298In this paper we maintain that Chomsky's biolinguistic program is not consistent with a naturalistic perspective of human language because of its problematic relationship with evolutionary theory. Against the Chomsky's scepticism toward the Darwinian tradition, we support the idea that a theoretical perspective that fails the evolutionary plausibility is not a good theoretical perspective of language. Specifically, our idea in this paper is that, in order to be evolutionary plausible, a model of our communicative abilities has to take into consideration the relationship between linguistic expressions and external reality as one of the main features of human communication.
