282The human capacity to acquire language including the ability to produce, perceive, and learn complex signals. To understand the evolution of human language, we have to comprehend which of these capabilities were present in the common ancestor of humans and primates. Abilities as vocal communication or sing seem to have evolved independently among humans, primates, songbirds and others animals that we called «natural musician». In this paper, I present a comparative perspective on the biology and the evolution of music. I suggest that a comparative approach to music is useful to understand the biology and the evolution of musical protolanguage.
