Back in the Fascist era, Kelsen's work was translated into Italian by agroup of scholars who adhered to the regime (chief among them was A. Volpicelli), and thisraises the historiographic question of why they should have taken such an interest in Kelsen.This in turn brings up two further questions. The first of these is whether there even existedsuch a thing as a "Fascist culture", in which case we would have to identify its features; andthe second is how the Fascist scholars' translation of Kelsen influenced the reception of histhought in Italy.
