In the present study two experiments are described to demonstrate the existence of an internal representation, oriented along an horizontal axis from left to right, for stimuli like numbers and letters of the alphabet. It is assumed that such representation, whose alignment is probably determined by reading and writing, is not exclusive for the numbers, as demonstrated by Dehane with SNARC effect, but it is activated by stimuli that are learned in an arranged sequence.
