The Government of Azerbaijan is willing to accelerate the developmentof the information society, and actions have been taken to develop anadequate technological infrastructure. One of these actions regards the improvement of the educational system. In this paper, the main results of the State Program on the Informatization of Educational System, 2008-2012, are described and the issues to be faced to achieve the stated policy goals.
