The present work had the aim of collecting standard data and of analyzing reliability and validity of the Listening Span Test (long and short versions), a test of verbal working memory, devised as an italian adaptation of the working memory task of Daneman and Carpenter (1980). Different indices were scored in order to obtain a measure of recall, processing and inhibition of irrelevant information. They showed satisfying psychometric characteristics, and significant correlations with different measures of comprehension.
