The notion of perceptual world is discussed and the distinction between what an observers currently perceives and what can in principle perceive, over various circumstances, is made explicit. Illumination-based metaphors of attention are evaluated and a specific conjecture is formulated: i.e., the idea that perceptual events like the "going in/out of sight" because of illumination changes provide a precursor for our representation of attention moving over different potential objects of phenomenal experience. Finally, an attempt is made to reduce the Galilean gap between physical and phenomenal properties, with reference to color qualia.
