John Stuart Mill offers in "Utilitarianism" a still fruitful analysis of "justice". The article shows that his analysis reconciles the utilitarianism with a defense of an "absolute" moral right of the persons. The central points of Mill's theory of justice are: the connection with a particular sentiment; a moral right to the liberty from the interferences; a form of indirect utilitarianism as a "decision procedure" for the rules of justice. So, for this theory of justice, utilitarianism and liberalism are not opposite conceptions any more.
