In Italy the topic of the reaction to Aids of men who have sex with men is a neglected one in the area of sociology. The article suggests that it is important to collect reliable data on the behaviour of so-called "risk groups" in order to strengthen prevention policies, and that the topic is a promising field for the sociological study of the individual, collective action, and the relationship between risk and identity.
