This essay offers an analysis by which the work of Silvana Castignone can be evaluated in relation to feminist environmental philosophy. We begin with an overview of this movement, focusing on the contributions based on the ethics of care. With this in mind, we turn specifically to Castignone, arguing that while her moderate anthropocentrism makes it difficult to place her squarely in the ecofeminist camp, her thinking about environmental ethics and the ethics of care aligns her with the fundamental goal of ecofeminism, which is to make women’s voices heard in defense of the environment.
