This contribution aims to reread the two works, one in Macerata and one in Corrido-nia, created by Carlo Crivelli in the early 1470s. This essay therefore retraces their criti-cal and exhibition success, both in printed and documentary sources, the history of their conservation and protection, the historical and artistic context in which those works were created, placed and used, the patronage of the institutions, their sociability and devotional consumption as well as the readaptations and restorations to which they had been subject-ed. An unprecedented texture that allows us to reestablish the figure of a painter who was already widely appreciated starting from the 7th decade of the 15th century.
