The Constitution of the DRG contains precise dispositions about the environmental protection and the State duties in this field. The later legislation tries to implement those constitutional principles and deals with different problems, ranging from the overall protection of nature and of the environment (Kulturgesetz, 1970) to the more specific objects of the 1982 Law on Waters and of the Rules on toxical substances
