This paper presents a meta-regression analysis of the empirical literature exploring the relationship between academic knowledge spillovers and local innovation output. In our sample we include 26 papers in the relevant …eld and by using multivariate regression techniques we investigate whether partic- ular aspects of these studies a¤ect their estimation results. We …nd evidence supporting the view that how the local innovation output and the university knowledge ‡ow are de…ned signi…cantly a¤ect regression outcomes. Further- more, the dimension of the geographical units employed in the analysis proves to have important e¤ects too. Finally publication bias does seems not to a¤ect estimation outcomes.
