Part of the difficulty in implementing structural reforms is that reforms are most effective if executed in a coordinated way. Nevertheless, timing and intensity of reforms have been very different across countries, reflecting the existence of economic and political costs of reforms, other than the initial conditions of the country. This note will explore the sequencing and interactions of sectoral regulatory reforms in Italy, in order to investigate whether multiple reform strategies can be optimal.
