Platforms can be analyzed both as places and tools through which crimes can be perpetrated, and from the perspective of the technologies they utilize. One area of interest is the impact of AI on the dynamics of crime. Another area is the use of AI systems in the activities of law enforcement. A central theme concerns the so-called ‘predictive policing,’ which encompasses activities aimed at studying and applying statistical methods with the objective of ‘predicting’ who may commit a crime, or where and when it may be committed, in order to prevent it. Regarding the decision-making sphere, there is the possibility of using algorithms to predict an individual’s behavior in order to apply a security measure, a precautionary measure, or a preventive measure, or even to grant conditional suspension of a sentence or probation
