The key to identifying the common thread linking the initiatives carried out by Civita in recent years, has been, and continues to be, its nature of laboratory on emerging issues in the cultural heritage sector. The purpose of the Study Centre «Gianfranco Imperatori», with the supervision of the Scientific Committee, is to explore, study and assess the issues and developments in the cultural heritage sector such as: the public-private relationship, cultural tourism, technological innovations, the birth of new professional figures and more recently sustainability in the cultural field. Then, the analysis of these phenomena has always been accompanied by indications of possible solutions. Ever since it was founded, the Association’s main research activity has resulted in the Rapporto Civita, now at its 14th edition, which always serves as a ground for discussions and debates on topics and strategic choices in the field of cultural heritage policies. The Reports always start from a survey, carried out by the Study Centre and often conducted in collaboration with companies specialising in demographic surveys, and are enriched by expert testimony as well as the description of representative cases. In addition to the Reports, the research activities of the Centre have contributed to the production of the Quaderni di Civita and other publications. Therefore, the Study Centre have a centrale role in fostering the organisation of meetings, conferences and the circulation of ideas, that bear witness to a work based on reflection, study and the sharing of results
