&is article focuses on the history of the main construction projects that completed the design of the Esquilino neighbourhood in the rst three decades of the twentieth century. Born as one of the most representative of Rome Capital, at the time the area had not yet been built beyond the limit of the most peripheral zone towards Porta Maggiore and the Basilica of Santa Croce. &e new constructions included residential blocks, terraced houses and detached houses along with public interventions for service facilities. Built according to a non predetermined plan, they reshaped the area in a form that is still in part legible today
