As is well known, Italian youth has been living in a particularly difficult situation for at least forty years. The Covid-19 pandemic has worsened the living conditions of young people, making transition to adulthood even more complicated. In this context, the Italian recovery and resilience plan (Pnrr) – developed by the Italian Government to revitalize the country in the post-pandemic phase – could represent a great opportunity to reduce the disadvantage of young people. This paper aims to describe the youth policies contained in the Pnrr and to reflect on their capacity to support young people in achieving their own autonomy. It will be highlighted how, despite the high expectations raised by it, the Pnrr will likely have marginal effects on young people, as it seems to be more oriented to an overall modernization of Italy than to a reduction of youth inequalities
