Salvatore Veca was one of the philosophers who most profoundly marked Italian culture in recent decades. With his extraordinary theoretical, cultural and editorial work, Veca enabled Italian political philosophy to open its eyes to a new world: that of normative political theory, which developed globally after the publication of Rawls’ Theory of Justice. In the latter part of his life, Veca focused his research mainly on the issues of global justice and on the fundamental lines of a new planetary political pact, necessary to respond to the challenges (ecological, sanitary, military, and nuclear) that affect contemporary society.
