If it is true that the ecological crisis is the product of the Anthropocene, as a newera in which human action becomes the priority factor that conditions natureand life on Earth, it is also true that the concept of Anthropocene has limits andambiguities in that it fails to account for the causes and responsibilities. Theorigin of the ecological challenge is more remote and lies in the anthropocentrismthat has celebrated the sovereignty of man over the non-human world, generatingthat «escape from the Earth» (Arendt, Latour) which paradoxically ended upmaking us masters and victims, exposed to the possibility of self-destruction.A new paradigm is therefore urgently required on which to base, through theexperience of vulnerability, a different form of life capable of safeguarding,together with the living world and the biosphere, a future worth living.
