At least since the late 1980s the EU has increasingly invested in schemes aimed at boosting the mobility of students, expecting such schemes to increase the employability of the recipients and, as a result, their likelihood of finding employment and earning more. Nevertheless, there are contrasting theoretical views on this issue and very few empirical studies exist. This study contributes to this academic debate by carrying out an impact evaluation of a student mobility programme co-financed by the EU: according to the results, the programme had no impact either on the odds of employment of the recipients or on their net monthly income.
