The text aims to connect the theses in favor of a basic income with the theses that reveal the progressive growth of the quality of work in a post-Fordism age, and in the third and fourth industrial revolution. In this way, the greater freedom in the labor market obtained through a basic income is connected to the greater freedom that can be achieved through quality work. The result of the analysis allows the author to put forward the proposal of an «Income of opportunity», able to widen the basket of «equal opportunities», unconditional in reciprocity and selective with respect to the wealth of the recipient of the income.
